Monterey County Weekly is seeking grant proposals for their community fund. Would the Friends of the Library like to submit one? The town can use a little moral boost in the way of the community room-library-park complex like the one already planned. It will be good for us to have a civic place we can be proud of. Thank you for your suggestion. We will forward it to the Friends of the Library's Board.

As you are aware, the vision of an expanded library with a community room has been pursued by Library Leaders and the Friends for decades,(literally, decades). We believe this vision will rise again, like the phoenix, and one day actually happen.

During these tight economic times, the Library and Friends are struggling to secure stable funding to simply keep the Library open. This grant may be able to assist in that effort, depending on its conditions.

It's always helpful to be alerted to available grant monies. Thank You!
